Often we think and ask, if God is so good why is there so much suffering? why do my loved ones die? why do the unjust go unpunished? Here I hope to shed some light from word of God pertaining all these issues (It is ok to mourn the loss of a loved one).
A reason as to all the suffering is the cause-and-effect of sin, as people continue to sin, it is made manifest in the natural as suffering.
“To the woman he said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children…” (Genesis 3:16-19 for the fullest details), but here we see that the sins of Adam and Eve creates a whole load of suffering for them in the manifestation of the physical as well as the spiritual (separation from God). This goes to show that the our actions do in fact have consequences. So sin has been introduced into this world and we were all bound by it but Jesus Christ has come to break us free from the bonds of sins.
“The righteous man perishes, and no one lays it to heart; devout men are taken away, while no one understands. For the righteous man is taken away from calamity; he enters into peace; they rest in their beds who walk in their uprightness.” – Isaiah 57:1-2
Now some know the saying they are fates worse than death and this verse highlights that notion very well as it is saying that when someone that we see as friends and family pass away we do not understand the fullness of the test that was to come and the trials upon the person. when the Heavenly Father knows that the death of the person will in turn save them from great calamity to come which is mostly brought up by the devil to test us like he does to Job and Peter for example (Job 1 and Luke 22:31). But I am here to reassure you using the word of God that never fails to tell you for those in Christ, Death is not the end but the beginning of something greater as they are now with the risen Lord Jesus.
“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-14) Do not grieve like you will never see them again, do not lose faith or hope, you will see them on the day of the Lord. Because remember “…‘And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” (Revelation 7:17). This is ultimately what is hope to wait on this day the Lord has promised in His Word (“so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:11))
It is ok to mourn the death of a loved one and if you are currently mourning; I pray that the God of peace and comfort bring you these things aforementioned, quickens your spirit to be in good cheer and to serve Him with all your heart. Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted and the grace of Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
